"Won't you fly high, free bird, yeah?"

How can a lemonade stand help an injured owl to fly?  Well, in this case the majority of proceeds from this bustling lemonade & cookie stand were donated to the Wildlife Education & Rehabilitation Center (WERC) in Morgan Hill, CA.  The hosts of the stand (Sammie Frazer & Tessa Gilmour) set up shop in the meadow on Holiday Drive near Lake Anderson & the 100 degree heat resulted in a steady stream of customers stopping in for a glass of refreshing ice cold lemonade.  WERC is a local non-profit organization whose mission statement is to provide the community with rehabilitation services for orphaned, injured, and sick native wildlife.  Through their education programs, WERC encourages a peaceful coexistence between civilization and our native wildlife.  You can usually find them at the Taste of Morgan Hill or the Morgan Hill Mushroom Mardi Gras, with an array of beautiful animals on display.  Their website is at www.werc-ca.org and check them out for upcoming events, fundraisers, and of course the animal of the month!

The Eagle Has Landed (In Holiday Lake Estates!)

What a comeback!  Taken off the endangered species list in 2007, the Bald Eagle is alive & well in Morgan Hill, California.  This photo was taken of a Bald Eagle that is a regular visitor to Lake Anderson, and he has been seen frequently along with a few friends in the Holiday Lake Estates neighborhood.  This old digger pine at the end of Manzanita Drive is one of his favorite perches, because it offers a great vantage point to hunt for ducks & fish in the lake below.  You've come a long way, Baldy!

San Martin Airplane Factory for Sale!!!

Morgan Hill Christmas Parade

What a great little town we live in!  The Morgan Hill Christmas Parade is sponsored by the Morgan Hill Kiwanis Club and is held on the first Saturday of December every year.  Encouraging all participants to deck their entries out with lights, the parade is rumoured to be visible from the North Pole (or at least North Depot Street).
